21st August 2013 FREE TRAINING: IDENTIFYING FAMILY VIOLENCE - NUMEROUS DATES AVAILABLE!

Northern Itegrated Family Violence Services (NIFVS) are offering seven Identifying Family Violence training sessions across the northern metropolitan region (NMR) funded by the Department of Human Services. The Training is aimed at ensuring that local and community services not directly involved in family violence service provision are able to consistently and effectively make referrals to family violence services.

19th August 2013 VOTING IN THE FEDERAL ELECTION FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS

In the lead up to the Federal election, the Victorian Electoral Commission can assist with enrolment outreach session to assist people experiencing homelessness to enrol to vote. The electoral roll closes on Monday 19th August, 2013 and it is not possible to vote in a Federal election if you are not on the roll by this date.

Homelessness Australia’s 2013 campaign will look at people who often do have shelter but are still homeless. According to the 2011 ABS Census of Population and Housing 94% of people who are experiencing homelessness are not on the streets. HA has identified four key groups of people who are often overlooked and undercounted when it comes to finding the homeless.
