CHP yesterday released its pre-budget submission 2013-2014, calling on the Victorian Government to commit $60.3 million for homelessness services in the next State Budget. The submission maps out a framework for ending homelessness in Victoria and highlights targeted investments that can be made in the 2013 - 2014 Budget to support the goals of the Victorian Homelessness Action Plan.

Over 76,000 Victorians counting on the State Budget for a Happy New Year Figures released yesterday by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare show that 76,950 Victorians sought assistance from homelessness services in 2011–2012. Council to Homeless Persons (CHP) said continued support for these services is vital, and its 2013–14 Pre-Budget Statement released today has called for additional targeted investment.

A randomised controlled trial examining the 24 month costs, benefits and social outcomes from the Journey to Social Inclusion pilot project. Journey to Social Inclusion (J2SI) is a pilot project designed to break the cycle of long-term homelessness. The project provides intensive support for up to three years to assist people who are long-term homeless to receive the range of services they need.
